Job Details..... (Update)

Okay so a few weeks ago I told you about a interview I went to at Watchman Broadcasting. Well late last week I got a call from them saying I was not picked for the job. I was okay with that as this was something last minute and I have not really been looking for a job as I am in the start up with my new woodworking company starting in Feb 2011. Well anyway the week went on and I never thought again about it however until this afternoon. I got a call from you guessed it Watchman Broadcasting offering me a job. They stated that the person 1st in line and who they offered the job to said they could not work the hours as needed. So that left me next in line for the opening. After calling them back and talking to them for a while I gladly accepted the offer. With owning my company I am able to set my hours how I see fit and that is was I was told they needed someone who can work anytime of the day on any day. I am not too sure how I feel about being next on their list of people to hire and wonder why I was not the 1st person they called to offer the job to. But In the long run I guess it does not matter. Could be a way of God telling them there 1st choice was a mistake. Anyway so I have the joy of starting training this week for 3 days back to back and if everything goes well I will be given my own shift next week. They are doing a week long live Praise-A-Thon that starts tonight so it should be fun. Part of having my own shift each week I will also be their "on-call" MCO (master control operator) It should work great for me with Debbie only working two days a week, being able to take the kids to work with her and me being able to work whenever I want and need with my new wood shop. So nothing has not changed on that part. Well I will be sure to post updates on how things all work out. God is good!

Going Potty Daddy...

So Emily got to stay home with me this morning!! I was blessed that she slept in to about 8:45am that allowed me to sleep in. It felt like a Saturday! Emily as many may know is like her mommy who loves to read and one of the 1st things she did this morning when she got up was pick up her books to start reading. While reading she came over to me shouting "Going Potty Daddy, Going Potty Daddy!!" So I told her to run to the bathroom to go potty.... and she gave me a big look and said once again, "Daddy Going Pottty!" I said it again go to the bathroom to go potty. She then brings me her book and points to the page... "GOING POOTTY DADDY!!! And boy did I feel dumb so I said "Oh, The people in your book are going potty!" (I was trying to think when in the Cinderella book they go potty. Sounded like a part of the book I must have missed) So thinking everything was okay Emily shouted back to me and said "DADDY NOOO!!! They are going to PARRRTY!" And once again I felt really dumb! "They are going to the Party!" I said back to her slowly to make sure that was what she said! She looked at me and said "DUH Daddy!" threw her hands up and walked away.

Another day will Daddy!

You know you're a homeschooler when...

I got this in my email this morning... Very funny!

You know your a homeschooler when...

. . . your kids are in the kiddie pool playing Lewis and Clark, paddling down the river with lacrosse sticks.

. . . you find yourself and your guests at your birthday party, at 10pm, embroiled in a lively discussion/explanation of the heart's size and function...with your five year old, who just had to get out of bed and ask because she couldn't sleep until she knew!

. . . people ask to borrow books from you because it's closer than the library with almost as varied a collection.

. . . your son asks to listen to the Geography Songs CD every day at lunch.

. . . you can SING the countries of Africa! "Algeria, Ethiopia, Liberia . . ."

. . . you stop in the church parking lot to pick up a big Rhinoceros beetle. It is dead and actually smells a bit bad, but you lay it carefully in the back seat, because your kids have never seen one before, except for the one in "Bug's Life."

. . . you go to the greenhouse in the summer to buy herbs and start talking to the kids about the different kinds of plants . . . and then one of the workers asks if you work there!!!!

. . . you're out with non-homeschooling friends and they expect you to know the answers to everything--like the difference between a vegetable and a fruit and whether certain things like cucumbers are veggies.

. . . your daughter's dance bag has more books than dance shoes in it.

. . . you find yourself saying, "We were studying last week, about . . ." and people look at you funny, and you don't know why.

. . . you don't think about, but your friends are all talking about, school registration next year . . . or how many days until you go back to school.

. . . the doctor's/dentist's/hairdresser's office is happy to schedule your child's appointment because you don't want one after 3pm or during a school holiday . . . or you can take advantage of off season rates because you make your own school holidays.

Job Details....

Okay I had a few people ask me to give a little more details about the interview I had to day and a little more about what I would be doing if I got the job. I tried to make a post on facebook however I went over my word limit. My job interview was with Watchman Broadcasting Christian TV studios. The job that I was interviewing for was Master Control Operator. The best way to compare the studio is to TBN (

Trinity Broadcasting Network

)
if anyone knows what that is. They have cooking shows, preaching shows, music for all ages. They even have a station for teens. They are aired all over however we don't get it here Directv But I do think they air on one of the packages you can get with Directv. The do have local stations in GA, TX, CA, a few states up north and even some international stations. Some of the people and shows they air are: 700 Club, Kay Arthur, John Hagee, Kenneth Copeland, Joyce Meyer, Lakewood Church, Gaithers Homecoming, CBN News, In Touch, Benny Hinn and many more people may know. They also have there own programing in house(Studios) a cooking show, prayer hour, Talk show, "by the book", and the also air a few Christian movies at times. You can check out there website at http://www.watchmenchristiantv.com
As far a the job the best way I can tell you or show you what they do is send you to this website. They give a good detail list of what they do. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Master_control
On that page you can even see a few pictures of what the control room looks like. It's a 24 hour 7 days a week thing so I could work at anytime of the day. If I do get the job and worked the night shift I would also be over the prayer line. So when people call in at night I would talk to them and pray for them over the phone. This was fine by me and with being a pastor this gave me a big point. I did enjoy my tour of the studios today and found the station to be very nice but again when you have over a million plus in something like this you only want the best. It was neat to see what happens behind the scenes of a big network like this. The funny thing the each set and stage area looked like something that you would see on TV... oh wait it is something that you see on TV LOL... but the rest of the studio had stuff all over it, wires coming out everywhere and you had small paths (due to all the cases and media stuff laying around ) to and from different areas of the studio. So yeah that the best that I can tell you, more of a detail list of what it's all about. However only God knows what will happen.. If nothing else it was cool to learn and see some new things. Keep Praying and I will be sure to let people know what happens. I should know something at the end of the week. Here is a picture of one of the sets I took this picture off there site. They where working on taking all the Christmas stuff down today but I did have my interview on the couch next to the chairs... Wonder if they were taping me without me knowing LOL (o)^(O)
I better not end up on the CBN News. J/K ROFL

Prayer Request!

One of the greatest things about blogger I like is you can set a post to publish anytime you wish. So here I go to set this post as I am driving in the car. Last week I was called by Watchman Broadcasting (A Christian TV network) to be ask if I would come into a interview for a opening they have as master control operator. At this time I don't know much about the job other then it's only part-time and they pay is not very good. I have not really been seeking a job but this could be a great way for me to bring in something to pay a bill or two until my wood shop gets up and running. With my background in radio and church broadcasting this might fit some of my skills but again it has been a few years from the last time I did anything and with the fast tech world we live in I maybe too rusty. Well anyway I am off to the interview so please pray for me over the next hour as I have not had a interview in over a year. Who knows what will happen, however I will be sure to post a update or two once I know more. This could be a good way for me to get out of the house one or two days a week. Plus it could be a good way to network with people. So Yeah PRAY PRAY PRAY! My Meeting is at 2:00 pm

~Great Info~

As some people may know I have Cogans Dystrophy and even more importantly I have Recurrent Corneal Erosion Syndrome or RCE. Less then two years ago I had my eye surgery and spent 6 weeks in a dark room with no windows, lights, or fans. I still have to have lubrication therapy with drops and a antibiotic ointment that I am to use daily. It's something at this point I can only try to prevent with much care but it will come again at some point in life. Anyway Here is a great site that gives a little more details about what it's all about. I found it to be helpful!!

~Trains Trains Trains~

A man and a woman who had never met before found themselves assigned to the same sleeping room on a trans-continental train. They tried to make other arrangements, but the train was full and they were both dead tired. So they agreed to just make the best of it, at least for one night. There were 2 berths, and the man gallantly volunteered to take the upper one.

At 1:00am, the man leaned down and gently woke the woman saying, "Excuse me maam. I'm very sorry to bother you, but could you please reach into that closet accross from your berth and get me a second blanket? I'm awfully cold."

The woman, who was snuggly warm in her berth, smiled and said, "I have a better idea. Just for tonight, let's pretend we're married."

"WOW! That's a GREAT idea!!", the man said.

Continuing to smile, the woman said, "Excellent....now get your own blanket"

Helping Daddy!

As long as Emily has been able to walk she has always wanted to help me do whatever it was I was doing from cooking, building something, even helping me "work" in my office or on my PC. This has been something that she has always done. Today as I went outside to pick up the trash once again that Carolina getting into it, Emily comes running outside with no shoes on and a cowboy hat on wanting to help. (Side-note: It should be the last time the dogs get into the trash... or at least I hope. With some wood, nails and a whole lot of rocks I don't think they will be getting into it.. But you never know.) So anyway while I was picking up the trash and Emily in the background she started singing "Outside picking up trash with my daddy... Outside picking up trash with my daddy....." She didn't seem to care really what she was doing just that she was doing it with me. It was a good remember that in whatever we do in this new year. Doing it along side the Father God is all that matters, even it's picking up trash.

Happy New Year!

So it's new years day!! I woke up this morning to find Flicker on my night stand looking at me. I asked Emily about it and she says he needs new batteries and the best part about this is she even left me money to buy the batteries......However I don't think 37 cents will buy them but at least she tried. Got to love her!
